Do portals create user fatigue?

property portal search enginesWeb users are time pressured and objective driven. They want to get to information that meets their goals in as few clicks as possible.

And that’s where some national property portals can be frustrating to use.

Suppose that you are looking for “new homes Woolwich”. You would probably start by entering this into Google and you may then select one of the property portals because it is listed on page 1.

User fatigue quickly sets in

Arrive at one of the property portals and you are then presented with the website’s own search engine. You need to work out how to enter your relevant search criteria.

Several clicks later you are presented with thumbnail images of a bewildering range of properties, which may or may not meet your requirements. Frustrated, you try another portal, and have to spend time getting to grips with their style of home search tool.
