Accessibility standards

Here are some of the principal checks that are made to ensure that your website conforms to Level A of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines:

  • Information should have sufficient contrast to make it legible
  • The design should not rely on colour alone to differentiate
  • Navigation must be easy to use with or without use of a mouse
  • Plain language should be used throughout
  • Design features must not cause the page to flicker rapidly
  • All images must have Alt tags that describe what they show
  • Where tables are used, the information must still be logical for the user to understand when it is linearised (as done by screen reader software)
