Here are some of the principal checks that are made to ensure that your website conforms to Level A of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines:
- Information should have sufficient contrast to make it legible
- The design should not rely on colour alone to differentiate
- Navigation must be easy to use with or without use of a mouse
- Plain language should be used throughout
- Design features must not cause the page to flicker rapidly
- All images must have Alt tags that describe what they show
- Where tables are used, the information must still be logical for the user to understand when it is linearised (as done by screen reader software)
